A very warm welcome to the Carden Arms.

A traditional, independent 18th Century Coaching inn, set amongst a cobbled forecourt in the centre of the picturesque village of Tilston, in the glorious South Cheshire Countryside. A perfect place to eat, drink and stay.

We are sure that with our interesting, eclectic and welcoming bar and dining rooms you will find the perfect spot to enjoy a beer with friends or tuck into our traditional, home-made quality food. On fine days, we have a sun-filled terrace where we often cook and eat outdoors, returning to the open fires to warm by the bar when the evening closes in.

We cut no corners in finding and cooking the freshest local produce, alongside mouthwatering meat from our very own herd of traditional pedigree Hereford cows.

Our Food

Our menu changes monthly to make sure we are making the most of our locally grown, seasonal produce. Alongside our monthly menu we have a favourites section to ensures that at all times we serve our most popular dishes such as steak, cottage pie, and beef burgers from our own herd of Traditional Hereford Beef. For further information and additional menus just to give a flavour of what we do, head on over to our Eat section.

"Is the honeycomb handmade?"
"Of course it is, everything is!"

A chef, not a cook

Our food is prepared with great care by Head Chef John Mount and his talented team. As credentials go, John has all the big ones but our favourite jewels in the crown are his stints at Le Gavroche and Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud. Choose a table next to our open kitchen to watch John as he prepares your meal.

Our Favourite Tipples

We pride ourselves on providing five of the finest local cask ales and beers, so we are sure you’ll find one that fits. We’ve got a fantastic list of carefully-tasted wines… and if you’d like to try something extra special, cast your eye over our ‘Classic Wines’ list.

Cask Ales and Beers

Weetwood – Eastgate – 4.2%

Lovingly crafted Cheshire ale. A robust foretaste with a terrific blend of fruit and hops and a long smooth finish.

Salopian – Shropshire Gold – 3.8%

This is our easy-drinking number. Superbly balanced golden ale with a gentle hoppiness and a dry finish.

Wines

White Wines

Paparuda Sauvignon Blanc, Estate Selection 2015 (Transylvania)

Twenty first century wine making, from a culture that’s been making wine for over 3,000 years. Duty Sauvignon at its best.

Ca’ Solare Pinot Grigio, Provincia di Pavia IGT 2015 (Italy)

Delicately floral and light in body, with crisp fruit and a very subtle touch of honey on the finish.

Red Wines

Los Coches Pinot Noir, Valle Central 2016 (Chile)

Aromatic and fresh wine with peach and apple blossom character and a succulent finish.

Las Pampas Malbec, Mendoza 2016 (Argentina)

Medium-bodied, ripe and smooth with subtle oak spice.
